Ashridge Court Care Centre, in Bexhill on Sea, held their annual Summer Fair on Saturday 14th July and with the sun on our side, it was a roaring success.
We were joined by Mayor Abul Azad who proudly opened the event and who also became the judge of the children’s fancy dress competition. With a pirate theme, we had some fantastic costumes and rosettes were given to the top six winners.
Following the event, Mayor Abul Azad said “I was delighted to take part in this great event and officially open the Ashridge Court Care Centre summer fair. Meeting with the residents, volunteers and staff has highlighted the importance of such care homes in our community. It was lovely to see many supporters, residents and staff get together to organise today’s event. There were a variety of activities, including stalls and music. I hope it is successful and raises much needed funds.”
There were games for the young, and the old to get involved with, from the coconut shy, splat the rat, hook a duck to beat the buzzer. The tombolas also drew the crowds, with some fantastic prizes up for grabs and the bottle tombola gave guests a chance to win bottles of gin to cartons of fruit shoot, so there was something for everyone!
Guests were kept refreshed and hydrated with teas, coffees and an array of cakes made by our very own chefs. Resident Shelia also headed up the craft stand, with all items such as porcelain mugs, magnets, photo frames and tie-dye scarfs being made by the residents over the last few weeks.
There was entertainment throughout the day, with live music from our favourite Ukulele band P.U.G.S. Playing timeless classics which got everyone clapping and toe tapping along and really got the party started. If that wasn’t enough, the fair was closed by the soulful tones of professional singer David Woloszko.
All donations and sales from the event were donated to the Alzheimer’s Society, and an incredible £1,400 was raised for the charity. The home would like to thank everyone who donated prizes, helped on the day and of course all of our family and friends for their continued support.
