At our homes we work hard to provide the highest-quality person-centred care to our residents, supporting them to live their best possible life, promoting their independence and preserving their dignity.

Situated in pleasant residential areas, our homes are extremely comfortable and well-equipped with attractive, landscaped gardens that are safe and secure. We pride ourselves on our high standards of cleanliness and adherence to strict hygiene and Infection control protocols, not only to keep our homes sparkling clean and in the best possible condition, but also to keep all our residents, families and visitors safe.

Our passion for care

Our dedicated and highly professional staff provide long-term residential, nursing, dementia and palliative/end-of-life care with empathy and compassion. We also offer shorter-term care to cover a carer’s holiday or period of absence (also known as respite care) and convalescent care to help someone recover after a stay in hospital.

Our care services reflect the specific and frequently complex needs of our residents, allowing them and their families to feel as comfortable and well-looked after as possible by our staff who, without exception, share a genuine passion for caring for people.

Our collaboration with others

We work closely with our professional colleagues within the NHS, such as GPs’ surgeries and hospitals as well as local authorities and other professionals.

As an organisation, Canford Healthcare is very happy to collaborate with other organisations such as Microsoft and Person-Centred Software on new initiatives on behalf of our residents. We are also regular speakers, panellists and attendees at forums and conferences to share our own knowledge and experience, and also to ensure that we are fully up to date on industry best practice.

Our two-way dialogue

Our commitment extends to our residents’ families, giving loved ones the peace of mind that they require and deserve. To best uphold this principle, we encourage clear dialogue between residents, their families, and our staff, helping us to make empowering decisions and communicate with courage and honesty.

We welcome input from residents and relatives on the running of our homes. We regularly survey their opinions on everything from care to meals, décor, hygiene and activities – everything affecting residents’ wellbeing and lived experience! We involve residents in planning activities and also invite them and their families to a monthly review of individual care plans. Families who use our two-way portal, Relatives Gateway, can access their loved one's care notes at the touch of a button and make individual comments directly to the care team via the system, too.

Our talented team

Each home has an incredible team of extremely knowledgeable carers, nurses, administrators, caterers, housekeepers, facilities and activities organisers who have created a unique community, ensuring that each resident feels included and welcome.

Our home managers, their deputies and teams are highly experienced within the health and social care sector, while new staff have a thorough induction process followed by rigorous ongoing training to ensure that they can meet all our residents’ requirements, whether they have a medical need, are living with advanced dementia or are at end of life. We also encourage them to pursue additional qualifications to add to their expertise and further develop their carer in care.

Our caring values

In line with our core values of Care, Family, Honesty and Commitment, we embrace an ethos of high ethical standards, transparency and an ultra-caring approach to residents and staff. This philosophy is firmly embedded within everything we do, from providing care to residents to how we interact with colleagues or our local community.

Our family feel

We see our residents (and their relatives) as an extension of our own families, offering care with compassion and striving to go above and beyond the call of duty. But it’s our strong and close-knit family feel that, we believe, sets us apart from other care home groups.

Our positive ratings and reviews

Our homes regularly receive positive reviews from residents and relatives on carehome.co.uk, the UK’s number one care home reviews website and other sites, as well as many kind comments from our professional colleagues who are frequent visitors. Our homes and individual members of staff are also recognised regularly via industry award schemes.
