The Positive Impact Of Animal Experiences In Our Care Home

Our residents recently enjoyed two wonderful animal experiences that brought smiles and plenty of special moments to Ashridge Court Care Centre. Pet Pals visited us with a selection of cuddly, friendly animals for a therapeutic sensory session. Residents loved spending time gently interacting with the animals, enjoying the calming sensory experience and sharing lots of cuddles. We would like to thank Pet Pals for bringing their wonderful furry friends and helping to make the day so memorable.

We also had the joy of watching our hatchlings emerge and grow. Our residents quickly became proud "Mother Hens and Cockerels," enjoying every stage of the journey. From seeing the chicks hatch to feeding them, giving them gentle cuddles and strokes, and watching their personalities develop as they began exploring their wings, it was a heartwarming experience for everyone involved.

Animal-based activities can play an important role in care homes by encouraging meaningful engagement and creating opportunities for shared experiences. Spending time with animals can provide gentle sensory stimulation, encourage conversation between residents, families and staff, and help create a calm and enjoyable atmosphere. Caring for young animals, such as hatchlings, also gives residents the chance to observe growth and development, creating moments of curiosity and connection.
