At Ashridge Court Care Centre, we work hard to provide a jam-packed activities programme that not only keeps our residents engaged but improves wellbeing, creates meaningful moments and gives them something to look forward to every day. Our activities programmes strive to offer our residents a variety of opportunites to get creative, reconnect new hobbies and pick up pastimes. From arts and crafts, live entertainment and board games to seasonal events and day trips, there is something for everyone.
Most recently, our lovely staff and residents took an exciting trip to Birling Gap in East Dean. The famous landmark and beautiful coastal spot near a relaxing pebble beach provided our residents with beautiful views and made the road trip worth it! Throughout the journey, our residents saw everything from local wildlife to the Eastbourne seafront, making them excited to arrive and explore the area. The journey also prompted our residents to talk about previous trips they had taken in the past, encouraging lots of conversation and laughter.

One of our residents who joined us on the trip, Tony, shared his memories of happy days out in Birling Gap with his family, whilst resident Kim began to recognise her surroundings from her life in Eastbourne. Moments like this remind us why days out are so special. They’re not just about visiting new places, but about creating opportunities to reconnect with treasured memories, share stories and enjoy meaningful experiences together.
Birling Gap itself was beautiful and left our residents in awe. It was great to be able to see the landmark in person and see how it has affected the area around it, giving us all something to think about. And lastly, the day would not be complete without plenty of ice creams, which kept our residents fuelled for the trip back to Ashridge Court.
